Event Description

Some of the rights you have after the age of 18:
1. To vote
2. To make a will
3. To enter into a law suit in your own name
4. To make binding contracts
5. To obtain medical treatment without parental consent
6. To live on your own. Independent living. You get to pay ALL your own bills.

Some of your responsibilities/State of Missouri:
1. Charged as an adult for crimes after the age of 17.
2. Parents are not required to support you.
3. You are liable for any accidents you cause. This includes vehicles.
4. You are legally bound to contracts you make with others. If you open a credit card in your name guess what, YOU are responsible for payment and any fees incurred.
5. All males are required to register for military service.
6. At age 21, you are eligible for jury duty.

Any citizen of the United States who is at least 18 years of age, and is a resident of the State and has been registered to vote by the 4th Wednesday of the month preceding the election is eligible to vote. If you were convicted of any felony in a state or federal court, you are barred from voting: while incarcerated, while on probation, while on parole. If you were convicted of a misdemeanor, you only lose the right to vote while incarcerated. If you were convicted of a felony or misdemeanor relating to election laws, you are permanently disfranchised unless you receive a pardon from the Governor. Once you have completed your sentence you can register, re-register to vote. You DO NOT need to show any special documentation.
