Renovation continues at the property for the Family Resource Center and Reading Room. Painting has been done, trim work is about finished. Strawberry wishing well has been built, gutters and down spouts are in place. Kitchen, bathroom, pantry, and back porch is being done. Trash has been hauled, bushes cut and hauled. Utilities are on. On May 6, 2014 over 300 people traveled to Jefferson City to stand up for human dignity and the rights of all individuals to be fairly represented within the legislature. We went with a message and that message was delivered. We stood up for changing the conversation, and making dignity and respect for all a part of the legislative process, and as a result we shut down the assembly. The Kansas City Criminal Justice Task Force, Family Advocacy Group asked for assistance with their long term sentencing bill. HB 1505 and SB 681, Anyone who meets certain criteria after serving 15 years will be eligible for parole consideration. Consolidated Social Work Services Inc, United Progressives, Voices of the People, and Gray Panthers continue work on the model block project. The garden project will soon be underway again and resources for the restoration of the property located at 3832 Chestnut is appreciated. All donations to this project are tax deductable.

Giving yourself real love (G.Y.R.L.) will sponsor a domestic violence forum Saturday the 12th, 5332 South Benton, Kansas City, Missouri. Get involved. It's time to address this issue in a real way. The Governor of North Carolina has signed the pardon for Wayne Moore and the Wilmington Ten. Thousands of people signed the petition calling for the Governor to grant the pardon, and clear these men's names for a crime they were not guilty of.
